(29) God's Unchangeable Promise AND MY BREAK-THROUGH!

Updated: Nov 5, 2022

I SWEAR I AM GOING TO BLESS YOU....I AM GOD!!

Hebrews 6:12 Then you will not be sluggish/lazy, but will imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. 13When God made His promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself, 14saying, “I will surely bless you and multiply your descendants.”…

Genesis 22:16 saying, "By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your only son......

Exodus 32:13 Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to whom You swore by Your very self when You declared, 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give your descendants all this land that I have promised, and it shall be their inheritance forever.

Deuteronomy 1:8 See, I have placed the land before you. Enter and possess the land that the LORD swore He would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants after them."

Isaiah 45:23 By Myself I have sworn; truth has gone out from My mouth, a word that will not be revoked: Every knee will bow before Me, every tongue will confess allegiance.

Jeremiah 22:5 But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by Myself, declares the LORD, that this house will become a pile of rubble.'"

Jeremiah 44:26 Nevertheless, hear the word of the LORD, all you Jews living in Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by My great name, says the LORD, that My name will never again be invoked by anyone of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As surely as the Lord GOD lives."

Luke 1:73 the oath He swore to our father Abraham, to grant us

Galatians 3:15 Brothers, let me put this in human terms. Even a human covenant, once it is ratified, cannot be canceled or amended.

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance depends on the Law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God freely granted it to Abraham through a promise.

MY BREAK-THROUGH

Breakthrough is most simply described as Heaven manifested on earth. It is a byproduct of being in the presence of God as well as the authority given to us through the cross.

Breakthrough brings the shifting of mountains that the world cannot accomplish by itself. On a practical level, breakthrough is not only limited to manifested blessing such as financial provision and physical healing, but it is most importantly character development. “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” – tangible and intangible blessing of God’s character demonstrated to us.

2 Kings 7:5. Breakthrough is a military concept. It occurs when an army weakens its enemy's forces to the point of collapse, intended to invade their territory. Divine breakthrough means to step into a more than enough blessing.

The Word of God is the master key to a world of supernatural breakthroughs (Luke 5:4-6)

How do you experience breakthrough?

Below are the seven things you must do to create a personal breakthrough:

  1. Hit a low point. This may seem counter-intuitive, but the first step is to hit a low point. ...

  2. Analyse your story so far. ...

  3. Make a decision. ...

  4. Set a new standard. ...

  5. Design your new life. ...

  6. Take up three new positive habits. ...

  7. Get clear on your why.

DEALING WITH - Why I Must Break-Through this heavy mindset?

Because it gives God glory and benefits the other people he has placed around us. When people encounter God on an experiential level, like Jesus consistently demonstrated in his ministry, they want what He has to offer. Breakthrough is not for selfish gain, but rather for the kingdom as a whole. To not petition for it and live in a poverty mindset is actually a form of selfishness because you owe it to God to represent him to the world.

“When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who glorify my Father!” John 15:8

People will only want our Jesus if they can look at our lives and see that we have something worth having (our purpose, our destiny or vision) All require differing manifestation of visable things that people desire. When God sets us free from fear, when He comes through miraculously in our finances, when He heals our cancer, when God orchestrates a fulfilling job or spouse for us, people see something incredible that the world cannot give – The character of God – The Perfect Love in us or things around us or associated with us! (People do not have to see the material things but they may see the influence or the environment or the purpose of our serving or who we are serving. People will gravitate to Jesus because of what they see us accomplishing or focused-on achieving also.

Peter followed Jesus before he was saved because of the miracles he saw Jesus perform and because Jesus made him rich with those fish.

What is Most Important?

Before talking about the “how”, I want to communicate that God is most concerned with developing character within us. That is the everlasting treasure and the answer to our peace and joy throughout life, not the gift. If He instantly gave us our every wish, we truly would not be happy. We live in a broken world with lots of road bumps. When we develop character, we are able to navigate those road bumps with much greater confidence and peace. That is a much better gift than getting your dream job.

How Do We Have Breakthrough?

1) Stay Tethered to the Vine

This is the most foundational element – If you want God’s blessing, you cannot be one foot in. You have to be all in, pursuing His presence, His word, and ultimately His will.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

The key to this verse is the first line – Delight yourself in the Lord. When you treasure God, you begin to treasure what He treasures. I do believe God puts desires in our hearts to do certain things, but it is really all too easy to misinterpret your own personal desires if you are not in connection with Him. Are we really holding everything open-handedly? Are we really desiring the world to be set free more than wanting to feel important and have nice things?

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7

2) Seek First the Kingdom of God

A common question I get asked is “I want to do what you do…how did you get where you are at?” In a practical worldly sense, it is incredibly complicated. But if there is one thing that I have learned, it is to seek first the Kingdom. This is a life verse Holy Spirit has lit up to me over and over and over no matter my circumstances. If you could walk away from this blog with one thing, I want it to be this. Wherever God has you in your current circumstances ask yourself, “How can I be a light? How can I have God’s perspective here?” He does not want a church looking to jump out of every hard situation into comfortable blessing – He’s wanting you to shift it.

3) Turn the Other Cheek

When you have a dream, it is incredibly easy to compare yourself to the person beside you, or in today’s case, in your Instagram feed. We see people doing or having what we want and many times, even take offense for not being included.

Offense, jealousy and envy breed discontentment and kill breakthrough. God wants a secure church more than anything – one that knows their value and loves others unconditionally like Jesus did. If you cannot learn how to treat people well when they disappoint you, He cannot trust you with more.

I have seen God consistently set me up for blessing when I have made the active choice in hard disappointment to go above and beyond for that person and actively serve them. This is Kingdom principle.

4) Put Love Into Action

Saying you love someone is one thing, but sacrificing and going out of your way to do something for someone is a whole different story. Love costs something. I recently heard a pastor talk about the story of Abraham being instructed to sacrifice Isaac, and this point stuck with me pretty hard – God knew how Abraham was going to respond, but He wanted to experience Abraham’s love and dedication to Him.

When we do something such as tithing and being generous to others, we are letting Him experience our love and trust in Him. Prayer is powerful, but just like any significant relationship, actions of love really cement things and have a power of their own.

5) Be Thankful

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6

What parent wants to keep giving their kid gifts who does not already appreciate what they have been given? Just like any good parent, God wants to help us and bless us, but it has to be really disappointing when we constantly agree with our perceived lack rather than the abundance He has given us.

If you want to be happy in life, just start declaring God’s praise and thanking Him for what you have been given. Our minds tend to gravitate towards our problems and disappointments and unless you are actively acknowledging the good in your life, disappointment will always trump joy.

I want to reiterate that the goal in all of this is not to create a church that views God as a vending machine. When we sign up to wear Christ’s name, everything does not just smooth out and become super comfortable. Actually, there is a good amount of promised discomfort through persecution and suffering. But my point is that it is vital to see that He sent us the Comforter (Holy Spirit) and is a good Father. We have to come to grips with the fact that God really really loves us, and wants to do good for those who love him.

Seek Him first, and see what He does in your life.

THE ANOINTING FOR BREAK-THROUGHS

If you experience a breakthrough, you will never experience a breakdown emotionally, physically or spiritually. Our God is a God of breakthroughs.

What is anointing? It is the Holy Spirit being with you and working with and through you. Anointing is God Himself coming down and being with you. No matter who leaves or abandons you, you will never be alone for the Holy Spirit dwells with you.

In 1 Sam 10, the prophet Samuel anoints Saul as King. These are the blessings received through the anointing:

1. Anointing makes you ‘captain over your inheritance’ (v.1)

Anointing releases you into your assignment, i.e. what God wants to do through your life. We have a list of what we want God to do in our life. But if we surrender it to God and submit to God’s will for our life, then the anointing will be released. The anointing will enable you to fulfill God’s assignment for you.

2. Anointing helps you recover your losses (v.2)

Saul was searching for the lost asses belonging to his father. That's when someone told him of a prophet who could tell him where the asses where. When the anointing came upon him, Saul was able to recover them. What is it that you have lost? Be it health, peace of mind, relationships, ministry or finances, the anointing will help you recover what you have lost.

3. Anointing releases you forward in your direction (v.3)

For three days, Saul was wandering directionless. But once the anointing came, he moved forwards. You will stop going around in circles and begin to move forward with the anointing. There will be no confusion.

4. Anointing destroys stagnation (v.3)

There might be a lack of progress or stagnant situations in your life. But all that will change as the anointing will release you from stagnation. Anointing releases acceleration into your circumstances.

5. Anointing will enhance your relationships (v.4)

The devil is a destroyer of relationships, but the Holy Spirit builds them.Anointing frees you from relationships that are liabilities and brings you into relationships that are assets. You will led to people you should meet, people who will bless you and bring an impartation into your life. The anointing helps to repair and restore relationships.

Saul went forward and joined up with those who had bread, wine and lambs. God joins you to people you need in specific seasons of life, who connect you to Jesus and build you up spiritually. Those who earnestly love and serve God, will be added to the church. Those with a divisive spirit will be removed.

6. Anointing releases you into His favour (v.4)

Until then in Saul’s life, he had received no gifts. When the anointing came, God’s favour was upon him. Saul was saluted by the three men he met and he received two loaves of bread. Anointing releases God’s favour and blessings that are rightfully yours. Both spiritual and material blessing will be yours through the anointing.

7. Anointing will release you to your potential (v.5,6)

Potential without expression leads to frustration. If you are unable to realise the potential inside you to be useful for God, frustration will set in. However the anointing enables you to realise your full potential and use all your talents. You will be able to enter into God’s blessing for you.

8. You shall be turned into another man (v.6)

God turned Simon (a reed) into Peter (a rock). He worked miracles through a stuttering Moses. He turned a shepherd boy, into a King. He turned the doubting Thomas into a missionary who brought the gospel to India. God is able remove your weaknesses and turn you into another man, by the anointing.

The prophet Samuel, after pouring the anointing oil, ‘decreed’ over Saul that he would be turned into another person.

The blessing of anointing is one of all-round breakthrough: physically, spiritually, your finances, ministry and every aspect of your life.

What is the key to walk in the anointing?

Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power. And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people. 1 Sam 9.1,2

Saul, the son of Kish, sought to please his father. He promptly offered to search the asses that his father had lost.

To tap into the anointing, you have to give pleasure to the Father. You have to obey and honour your earthly father, your spiritual father (pastor) and, most importantly, your Heavenly Father. Then the anointing will flow in your life.

And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Mark 1.11, Matthew 3.17, Luke 3.22

There was no limit to the Holy Spirit in Jesus, because He pleased the Father (Jn 3.34). Similarly, we should please the Father in our lifestyle, prayer life, worship, witnessing. That is the human responsibility to walk in this anointing.

Ask yourself – how many will go to heaven because of you? How many have been attracted to Jesus because of your lifestyle or behaviour? You have to please the Heavenly Father for an all-round breakthrough.
